Zambia 2024 Reflections

From all of us at Emma's Helping Hands (EHH), we had a wonderful time during this past trip!

Once again, the people of Zambia blessed us far more than we could have imagined. From the time we touched down at Kenneth Kauendu Airport in Lusaka, we felt nothing but kindness and hospitality.

This year our EHH family had the additions of Josh, Ben and Riley Guerra joining us, along with our Zambian volunteers. It was wonderful to share this journey, experiencing Zambia for the first time.

As in our previous 2023 mission, Emma's Helping Hands focused on providing medicine, food, clothing, shoes, and educational assistance in the form of school supplies and books. We also established the Katanga Community School and continued the development of the Tammy Ainsworth Library.

In addition, we provided medical clinics in the Kaindu village and in the city of Mumbwa. New effort this year was in sponsoring a Period Poverty Program, by supplying pads and personal hygiene supplies to young girls. Also we thank Highland Park Baptist Church for establishing funds to provide surgeries for orphan children at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.

Likewise, we continue to partner with UTH, and strengthened our relationships within the department of surgery including with Dr. Bruce Bvulani, department of Pediatric Surgery, and Dr Kachinga Sichizya, department of Neurosurgery. We hope to further these relationships as time goes on.

We also added a spiritual dimension to EHH this year with Josh Guerra praying for our patients after being seen. This adds to our desire to honor the Lord and advance the Gospel as we address physical needs. Hopefully this aspect of our mission can grow into a strong and sustainable contribution to our efforts each year. We appreciated the warm fellowship and beautiful worship opportunity at the New Apostolic Church at Waterfalls.

We appreciate all the prayers and support this year, without which none of this could have been possible.

Thank you all for lending a helping hand!
