Giving hope for Zambian families in need.
Many Zambian children live without access to clean water, basic clothing, educational supplies, and medical services. The real tragedy is letting it happen.
We created Emma's Helping Hands in memory of our mother, Emma Makungu, whose life of faith, humility and compassion for others inspired us to make a difference.
It has been said, "It is far more blessed to give than to receive". Eternal wisdom such as this serves as our foundation for everything we do. Emma's Helping Hands operates on a 100% volunteer basis, and hopes to make a difference in lives of Zambian families who need our help.
One such place is a small, remote village called Kaindu. Accessible only by heavy trucks, 3 hours outside of the closest town, Mumbwa, residents of Kaindu represent those without a voice. In essence, our mission, is to give hope for Zambian families in need, such as these, who would otherwise be forgotten, or never be known at all.
Making A Difference
Building Strong Foundations
Every child deserves a chance to go to school, to learn, grow and dream. Our passion is to make a difference, step-by-step, starting with those who might need help the most.
In 2023, Emma's Helping Hands partnered with the people of Kaindu village, Zambia. Here we partnered with the local community to bring assistance to an area that had never received help before. We constructed the Tammy Ainsworth Library, complete with age appropriate books for the local school. In addition to school supplies, food, clothing, and shoes, we also supplied a two-day medical clinic for adults and children.
Thank you to our partners who made this possible.
Families Helping Families
Emma's Helping Hands is unique in several ways. First, we are Zambians helping our fellow Zambians. With donations, we are able to purchase food, medicine, clothing and school supplies from local Zambian vendors, who also lend a helping hand by discounting products.
With this mindset, our goal is to be good stewards of all donations, stimulate the local economy, and help provide basic assistance to as many in our communities as we can.
It's been said our children are our future. By partnering with local communities, we allow Zambians to help fellow Zambians, rather than the traditional "foreign aid" model.
Thus our model is families helping families.
